The Director resting between shows

As the show season began in April, I knew this would be the final stretch. At the Nationals, I had entered Sniff in American bred. He was still not very tall, and I just knew he would be lost with all the big Schips in that ring in open or bred by.

The trip was exciting and long to Colorado and the weather perfect. My friends and Sniff's aunties and uncles all came to cheer us on. I wanted a win so bad I could taste it. And there were more entered in that class than I expected.

It was our turn and we did it!! I know we didn't have a chance at the BIG prize, winner dog, but it was cool to be part of the final group of winners <G>.

Sniff at the Nationals

Then time to go home, and it snowed 12" in Denver! We left while the streets were still passable, but hit high winds, driving through clouds all the way to Hays. The next day we got almost back home. And then on to Ok City to the next show. Another Major and Sniff only needed 1 point for the Ch to go in front of his name...could we do it at Ft Smith?? It was one of my favorite judges...Mr. Hussin.

That next weekend I worried about the flies, my clothes and Sniff getting dirty at the show. It was in a horse arena and FULL of flies. There were so many entered. Another major and some new dogs we had not shown under. Would we do it?? YES!!!! and as we were called out, I gave a hoop'n holler (very undignified I must say) but that tiny little dying puppy was standing there in that ring WINNING for all he was worth. We had MADE DREAMS COME TRUE. Not only for us, but for the friends on the Schip List, too. Sniff, my brave, wonderful little guy was a champion.
